“There is a life-force within your soul, seek that life. There is a gem in the mountain of your body, seek that mine. O traveller, if you are in search of That don’t look outside, look inside yourself and seek That.” Rumi

In what ways do you come to know yourself?
How do you understand your experience of living in your body with your set of unique, individualised characteristics?
Somatic education is one way to explore some of these questions in a way that allow an individual to awaken the capacity of self-discovery. Somatics is a practice grounded in an inquiry into the human experience that exercises the capacity to maintain sustained attention to voluntary and involuntary responses in the body. It invites us to pay attention to sensations, movements and thoughts, as well as feelings, images and emotions in a mindful way. We use all this information to understand and find meaning to one’s experience.

Somatics is a powerful, methodological process that enables communication and the discovery of language to articulate and understand the breadth and depth of one’s experience. It allows the integration of the bodymind split that is habitual in contemporary approaches health and wellbeing. Somatics gently invites us to inquire with curiosity, the fullness of our physical, emotional and inner experience.

The discipline of using a somatic approach can be applied to almost any set of circumstances! You may find it supportive if you live with a long-term condition, chronic pain, facing a significant life event or on a journey of personal development and curious to understand your life challenges or joys.
